Life in Green

Reforest’Action is also a rich ecosystem of partners, who have made forests their profession, and who work daily to maintain and restore it. Jean-Marc Péneau is a forestry expert. We tell you all about his job and his relationship to the forest.

His job…

Jean-Marc has always been keen to get his hands on the land, since he dreamed of having his own farm when he was little. The one who defines himself as "the child of storms" began his profession in the forest by collecting wood from trees blown by the winds, in the service of his constituents. He then became a forestry technician, then an expert. He now manages forests on behalf of legal entities in seven French regions. His job ? Cultivate trees, educate them, in all the diversity of their species, to support their growth, make them strong and resilient. Through his respectful management of the forests for which he is responsible, Jean-Marc always keeps in mind the adage: "imitate nature, hasten one's work".

His story with Reforest’Action ...

It was first of all with a wonderful meeting with Stéphane Hallaire, President and Founder of Reforest’Action, that it all began in 2015. Jean-Marc fell in love with his vision filled with humanity and turned towards the future. The forests managed by Jean-Marc have since benefited from funding from Reforest’Action, which often acts as a catalyst in the implementation of reforestation work. By also supporting the natural regeneration of forests, Jean-Marc is one of our pioneers in sustainable and gentle management, and discusses with us the revitalization of forests without going through the planting of trees.

Its relationship to the forest ...

For Jean-Marc, the forest is above all the place of life, and he considers himself to be only a link in the service of its sustainable management. Cradle of social ties, of local and sustainable activity, the forest ecosystem is endowed with this ability to be independent, which particularly appeals to it. Humans, animals, plants, visible and invisible ... The forest lives and gives life, in the same movement.
